Two Waterford locations are set to benefit from a total of €100,000 in funding to examine the viability of community projects deemed integral to their development, Fine Gael Senator and General Election Candidate John Cummins has said.
This funding announced by Minister Heather Humphreys will support pre-development works for projects and support costs including detailed design, planning, procurement, professional fees, assessments and other development costs.
Speaking on the announcement Senator Cummins said “the funding announced this morning will support the development of projects in Portlaw and Ardmore which will have a positive impact for residents, businesses and community groups in Ardmore and Portlaw.”
“I was delighted to receive confirmation of funding for projects in Waterford from my colleague Minister Humphreys. The funding will guarantee there is a strong pipeline of shovel-ready projects in Waterford with €2.6m of funding for a total of 53 projects across the country.
Senator Cummins continued: “I am particularly pleased that this funding is targeting the development of brownfield sites and buildings which have the potential to add greatly to the community. The Town Centres First Policy is one I wholeheartedly support.
“This is just one of many initiatives and recent funding announcements for Waterford a clear demonstration of Fine Gael’s intention to ensure our towns and villages are great places to live, work and raise a family in.
“I look forward to seeing these projects and initiatives progress, so vacant and derelict buildings and sites in our towns can be brought back into use.” concluded Senator John Cummins.
