€25m in TAMS paid out in 2021
Waterford Fine Gael Senator John Cummins has welcomed the approval by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue T.D. of all qualified applications received under tranche 21 of the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS scheme). Letters have started issuing to approved farmers.
Senator Cummins said “TAMS continues to be a hugely successful and beneficial scheme and I’m delighted that the Department has confirmed the approval of 100% of qualified applications submitted under tranche 21. It is my understanding that this is the first time this has occurred, as it wasn’t possible in previous tranches due to budgetary constraints. This is great news for farmers and gives them certainty in being able to carry important upgrades to their farms.”
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine continues to pay on average €1.3 million per week on TAMS II investments with just over €25 million now been paid in total for completed investments in 2021. Payments of over €290 million have now issued in respect of over 20,700 approved applications for completed investments since the opening of TAMS II in 2015.
Senator Cummins said “there are still a considerable amount of outstanding approvals that haven’t been completed and I would encourage farmers where possible to conclude their investment work and apply for the payment as soon as possible to facilitate the prompt issuing of payments”.
He concluded by saying the current tranche of TAMS II closes on 23rd July 2021. Further tranches in will open on 23rd July 2021 and 5th November 2021.
