Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant

What is it?
The Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant is a new scheme introduced by government if you are turning a vacant house or building built prior to 2007 into your permanent home or a rental property.

How much is available?
A grant of up to €50,000 is available. If the property is derelict or requires certified structural work, a top-up grant amount of up to €20,000 is available. It can also be combined with SEAI energy grants which provides grants of up to €27,000.

What conditions apply?
The property must be vacant for a period of 2 years immediately prior to making an application. You must live in the property as your principle private residence or make it available for rent for a period of 10 years,
clawbacks may apply if this condition is not maintained. The grant is paid following certification of completed works.

Applications can be made via Waterford City and County Council. Application forms can be downloaded from www.gov.ie
