What is it?
A Local Authority Home Loan is a Government backed mortgage for first time buyers and fresh start applicants. It can be used to purchase a new or second-hand property or for self-build. A Local Authority Home Loan provides up to 90% of the market value of the property.

Who is eligible?
Single applicants must have gross income (before tax) of less than €70,000 and joint applicants have gross income of less than €85,000. Applicants must also have proof of two insufficient mortgage offers from two regulated finance providers.

How much can I borrow & what conditions apply?
A Local Authority Home Loan offers two fixed interest rate products: 3.35% fixed for up to 25 years & 3.45% fixed for loans over 25 years and up to 30 years. In Waterford the maximum property value which can be purchased is €300,000.
